The Quehanna Loop backpacking trip
For a truly beautiful hike, the Quehanna Trail, located in the Moshannon and Elk State Forests is amazing. The Trail passes through some of the most wild and beautiful country Pennsylvania has to offer. The entire Quehanna trail is 75 miles in length. Our trip takes you on a shorter 2 day, 1 night loop that we’ve crafted for you. Don’t worry if you are a beginner and aren’t sure what to bring. We’ll provide you with a checklist of everything needed. Most items can be rented, or all items can be purchased at our store upon your arrival.
If you are new to backpacking and are not sure what you need, we will be happy to set up a private consultation with you. As part of the consultation, we will go over everything you need, explain all of the gear to you, and what to expect on your first outing. The consultation is free of charge, and is by appointment. This allows us to set you up one on one with an expert outfitter. For those out of town guests that are not able to set up a consultation, please see the “Backpacker’s checklist” that lists everything that you need. Most items can be rented, or all items can be purchased at our store upon your arrival. Just give us a call in advance, and let us know what items you will need.
Cancellation: We apologize for any inconvenience, however, we must have a minimum of 4 people booked in order to proceed with the trip. If we have less than 4, the trip will be cancelled. In addition, if we see that there is a relatively high chance of thunderstorms, the trip may be cancelled. Rain showers will not cause a cancellation.
The trail has some technical portions and there is some elevation gain along the way, but this is suitable for anyone is moderately good shape. Each participant will need to carry their own pack with gear & food. There are several streams along the way, so you will be able to filter water, allowing you to carry less with you.
